Reconnaissance

The adversary identifies the target and/or ascertains strategic information to inform the latter stages of the attack.

In the Reconnaissance phase, the adversary may be attempting to determine the correct moment (based upon timing and conditions) to launch an attack on their intended target, looking for a target of opportunity, or gathering information about the defences the target has in place.
